SiTF celebrates 25 years of milestones in the infocomm technology industry

On 7 September 2007 (Friday), Singapore infocomm Singapore Technology Federation (SiTF) celebrates her 25th Anniversary with a gala dinner at Marina Mandarin Singapore. The event will be graced by Guest-of-Honour, Dr. Lee Boon Yang, Minister for Information, Communications and the Arts.

During the dinner, past luminary chairmen will be recognised for their contributions to the industry. SiTF will also present a cheque of S$31,000 to President’s Challenge raised through events such as SiTF V-Day and SiTF Golf Classic where conscious efforts are made to raise funds and reach out to the less fortunate in our community.

Since its establishment in 1982, SiTF has strived to be the beacon of the infocomm technology industry; working with government agencies, local trade associations and international organisations to provide platforms to grow the Singapore ICT industry. Many initiatives were launched and implemented over the last 25 years, such as, the setting up of the Singapore Solutions Centre in Shanghai and Hangzhou with the Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA). The purpose of the centres is to assist local ICT to penetrate into PRC market.

This dinner also marks the commencement of a host of events and initiatives fronted by SiTF. In Nov 2007, SiTF will play host to two international ICT events, Asian-Oceanian Computing Industry Organization (ASOCIO) ICT Summit 2007 and Asia Pacific ICT Alliance (APICTA) Awards 2007. ASOCIO will gather industry leaders where ICT masterplans from different economies will be shared while APICTA is an international competition amongst participating economies. These events provide excellent platforms for knowledge sharing, networking and showcasing our local innovations, products and solutions.

Moving forward, the councillors of SiTF who comprises mainly the captains of the industry had come together and had carved out the vision of making SiTF the lynchpin for an ICT community. Moving into the next lap, SiTF will continue to establish itself as a thought leader in the infocomm technology industry and assist in building an eco-system that will flourish.
